shoot it! will enable you to send a real, photo postcard from anywhere to anyone in the world directly from your mobile device. Your personalized postcard will be delivered in just days…not weeks. It’s easy, it’s affordable and it’s fun!
Why would I want it?
Did you ever take a photo that is so special or fun, that it deserved better treatment than to be sent as an email attachment or MMS? Not everyone has a quality color printer to print your masterpiece…not everyone will think it’s convenient to get photo prints made…and very few receive MMS. But most importantly, some photo memories simply deserve to be preserved and shared… to live forever on a cubicle wall, a refrigerator or shared by hand with others.
When would I use shoot it!?
Well, how about from the deck of your Caribbean cruise ship…or from the beach in Rio…or from a wedding in Italy…or habitat for humanity in Africa…or the bleachers of the stadium…or from your class reunion…from that business round of golf with executives…or from the bar at the ski slope. Visiting the states from Europe? Shoot a pic from Grand Canyon today and we’ll mail from London tomorrow! You won’t want to send a postcard for every picture you take, just like you don’t send a text for every thought you have. But, there are times when a photo is perfect for a postcard. Then, simply "shoot it!"
Who would want a postcard?
Everyone loves postcards! Send them to your friends back home…even your friends across town. Classmates, golf buddies, sorority sisters. Send one to the friend who couldn’t make the trip…”wish you were here!” Mom would love a postcard. Grandma and Grandpa would much prefer a postcard because they rarely check email and can’t get MMS on their old land line. shoot it! - just because you can.
Shoot it! is currently available for the iPhone, most BlackBerrys, Android, and Windows Mobile. Very soon it shoot it! will be available for all new smartphones. The shoot it! app itself can be downloaded from our website upon registration. The iPhone app and the BlackBerry app are a free download from your smartphone. In both cases we will include your first postcard FREE!
How does it work?
shoot it! can leverage your smartphone’s data or wifi connection to send your photo, your personal message and your recipient’s mailing addresses to our server. Then, we grab all of the postcards destined for a particular country/region, and batch them to that print center, for printing and mailing the very next business day!
Why do I need to create an account?
Creating an account keeps you from having to type important information every time you need to place an order, such as your email, your return postal address, credit card information and billing address. We store your personal information securely and we leverage PayPal to store and process all credit card information. Be assured, your information will not be given or sold to anyone.
What does it cost and how do I pay?
First, you need to create an account at www.shootit.com Then, we recommend you “pre-purchase” and pre-load your account with postcard “credits”; which will provide you with a quantity discount. Postcard credits with shoot it! work like stamps do with the post office… you purchase in advance and then draw them down as you send each postcard. Your account balance will decrease automatically, based on the number of credits used to send your postcards. If you do not pre-load your account, then shoot it! will charge your credit card for each postcard pay-as-you-go.
What do you mean by postcard credits?
Because postage varies from country to country, shoot it! charges for postcards with a unit of measure called a postcard credit. A single postcard credit costs $1.00. 1.29 credits are required to mail a postcard to any U.S. address. 1.54 credits are required to mail a card to any other North American address and also to any address in the U.K. An address in Western Europe is 1.79 credits. A credit equivalent will be established for each country as we proceed with our world-wide expansion.
What’s the minimum charge?
Our minimum order is 1.29 credits. However, because you will surely want to send a second card as soon as you send your first, you may want to consider ‘parking’ $11 on account. Caution: shoot it! IS an addictive behavior.
From what countries can I send cards?
Great news! shoot it! allows you to send postcards from any place you have a mobile data or wifi connection. You do not need a mobile/cellular connection or international calling plan.
How long will it take for my postcard to arrive?
shoot it! mails postcards First-class the next business day. That’s right, the next business day – always. Postcards shot over Friday, Saturday and Sunday will mail on Monday. Our daily production times vary for each country/region. For postcards destined to the U.S. and other North American countries, daily cutoff time is 10PM. For postcards destined to Western Europe you can send postcard messages up until 6pm MST, and they will be produced overnight and delivered across Western Europe in just a few days! And, for overnight processing in Japan we have a cutoff time of 9AM MST. Delivery throughout the world varies depending on the postal service. But make no mistake; the miracle of shoot it! takes significant time, costs and headaches out of the international mail process, and your postcards will typically be delivered in days – not weeks!
How can you deliver a card in Western Europe that fast?
shoot it! has established an international distributed print and mail network. This means your card will print and mail the next business day from the country closest to your recipient’s address. This is how we eliminate the need for international postage and long transit times. Postcards destined to North America print and mail from the U.S. Soon, you will be able to send shoot it! postcards to Japan and South America. But again, you can send postcards "from" anywhere day one!
What if my postcard didn't arrive?
If your postcard has not arrived after a week, please send an inquiry to support@shootit.com and we will confirm the date the card entered the postal system. On occasion the postal system has delays (seasonality, union strikes, weather) and on very rare occasions, a postcard goes missing in the postal system. In this event, we can usually reproduce and mail the card again, if the request is made within 60 days of the initial submission.
What do the postcards look like?"
shoot it! postcards are approximately 4" x 6" with your custom photo on the front side and your personal message on the back side. The postcards are printed in brilliant 4-color on heavy paper stock
Can I add any photo to my postcard?
Yes. Simply sync your mobile device with your computer and select any photo from your phone’s photo library. Good reproduction values are achieved with photos from 2 megapixel cameras or better or photos from 500 kb or better. Most phones can provide high enough resolution for a nice reproduction.
Can I take photos with either a ‘portrait’ and
‘landscape’ orientation?
Yes. And our system will know the difference and orient the photo properly on the card.
How much can I type in my message?
Our postcards are similar in size and intent to traditional postcards; which are ideal for short notes. Consequently, it seems that 3-4 short sentences fit nicely between a greeting and a valediction (sign off) line. Having said that, we provide about 300 characters (depending on country) including spaces. We print in a very-readable 10-14 point typeface.
What return address appears on the postcard?
By default shoot it! will print the address on file from your registration as the return address on the postcard. Prior to your registration, and on promotional or free cards, the return address will be that of shoot it!
How do I put addresses on my postcard?
You select postcard "Recipients" from your phone’s ‘Contacts.’ You will undoubtedly need to add physical mailing information to some of your contacts. And, this is most often done within a computer address book of some kind, then “synced” with a mobile phone. You can also enter an address manually from your phone. Reminder: the BlackBerry contact list requires there to be a country typed into the address to be complete. For iPhone users, one great way to add an address is from a free app like ‘White Pages.’ From your phone, ‘White Pages’ can search by name or by phone number to display a complete mailing address. Once you locate your recipient, you can automatically save the info to ‘Contacts’ and pick it from within shoot it!
U.S. Mailing addresses - what do I need?
You need a complete mailing address, which in the U.S. means a minimum of three lines to include 1) Name or Company, 2) Address and 3) City, State, Zipcode. We can print up to six lines and recommend adding and secondary address info such as Apartment or Suite, Unit or Box numbers. Reminder: the BlackBerry contact list requires there to be a country typed into the address to be complete. As required by the US Postal Service, shoot it! passes all U.S. addresses through a postal standardization and correction process prior to mailing.
International mailing addresses – what do I need?
International addressing varies widely. As such, shoot it! relies solely upon your supplied address. Therefore, it’s your responsibility to get it right. Therefore, please include every element known about the international address, especially any city, state and zipcode equivalents. We know that some countries do not rely on state and zipcode equivalents, and we have made every attempt to not require their use, but if you find that our system requires them and should not, please drop us a line to support@shootit.com for assistance.
What can’t I send on a postcard?
shoot it! is not responsible for the content of your photo or message. Please use prudence and discretion when sending your postcard. shoot it! has the ability to source every card to the sender and the recipient. We will cooperate fully with the post offices and law enforcement authorities around the globe, if a user violates any laws; as they vary from community to community, country to country. Be smart.
